Warwickshire Master Gardener Kim Garner has signed up BBC Coventry and Warwickshire’s radio presenter Fran Daly for 12 months free food growing advice.

Fran is learning how to grow her own tomatoes, lettuce, peppers and onions with regular chats with Kim at Ryton Gardens (home of Garden Organic near Coventry). Fran and Kim have sown seed, potted up plants, tied them in, eaten lettuce, and more – including naming our seven peppers after the seven dwarfs!

Fran said: “I’m delighted with my tomatoes. I’m looking forward to my salad”. Kim adding: “I get such pleasure from helping others grow and learn lots in the process!”.

Fran has joined Kim as one of her ‘households’. Project manager Philip Turvil explained: “Each Master Gardener supports up to ten individuals, couples or families for 12 months, offering advice and encouragement on the phone, by email, or in person at their homes or community garden.”

It’s exciting stuff.
